Founded in 1976, Slattery has grown into a national property and construction advisory practice, delivering more than 16,000 projects across the public and private sectors. Its new Melbourne workplace marks a pivotal moment in that trajectory, conceived not simply as an office, but as a spatial expression of the firm’s maturity, culture and forward-looking ambition.

The design builds on the memory of Slattery’s previous workplace, where sandy timbers and planting evoked a coastal landscape. Here, that language is deepened and refined. Darker timbers, natural stone and tailored soft furnishings introduce a sense of weight and permanence, while maintaining subtle references to the beachside origins of the practice. The result is a palette that feels both grounded and quietly sophisticated.

Wellness operates as a central organising principle. Biophilic design strategies are paired with colour therapy and circadian lighting to support occupant wellbeing across the day. Spatially, the workplace is structured into a series of neighbourhoods, distributing teams across the floorplate and interspersing them with meeting and collaboration spaces. This approach supports both focused work and informal exchange, while accommodating the realities of hybrid and virtual collaboration.

A diverse range of settings underpins an activity-based working model, from open collaborative zones to quiet library spaces and enclosed pods. At its centre, the Forum acts as the social and cultural heart of the workplace, combining amphitheatre seating, breakout areas and integrated planting in a space designed for gathering, events and collective pause.

Material selection reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, with carbon-conscious finishes specified throughout. Together, these elements position the workplace as a calibrated environment that supports performance, wellbeing and a distinctly contemporary mode of practice.
