We present The Eighth in South Melbourne as a real example of what intergenerational housing could look like in the city. Young people and old people get on like a house on fire. Here, they live side by side in a building designed to support connection, independence, and happiness. Simple, retro-modern, and built beautifully, The Eighth layers offices, wellness, and residences into one cohesive space, a new way of living, all under one roof.
At The Eighth, the rooftop pool is an architectural gesture toward shared experience. A meeting place, a social catalyst, where neighbours, young and old, cross paths in a space designed to slow you down. Itβs one of many communal moments threaded through the building, offering a kind of collision point that quietly restores what traditional housing models have fractured.
